Project Life

I am loving this new project that I have started this year.  Not only am I finding that it's easier to scrap the everyday moments in life but also it doesn't seem to be compromising my ordinary scrapping.  In fact, I'm finding that I enjoy doing layouts even more.

I am a couple of weeks behind but I'm trying not to get bothered about it and just roll along with it.  I think if you try to keep up then you could drive yourself mad.

I'm really happy with my title page.  I really wanted to do a stitched pocket with confetti inside and I love the way it turned out.  I got a lot of inspiration from the Studio Calico blog and galleries as I had not done a title page before.

Before I started on this project I scoured so many blogs/galleries to get ideas.  I love doing this before I start something new as it can provide a lot of inspiration.  Here's Week 1.

Although I don't mind my own handwriting too much I think the type written text looks great and really breaks up too much handwriting.

I'd really love to see other people's project life layouts.  Thanks for stopping by.

Pretty Princess

That time has come around again.  Every year, just after we've dragged ourselves through Christmas, we have my husband's and our kid's birthdays.  As it's just been Christmas they have no idea what they want for their birthdays and I, not being one who spoils my children, don't want to spend the earth.

However, we finally got out of Isabelle what she wanted and all went well.  Here is she on her special day.

This is, obviously, going in my Project Life (Weeks 1, 2 and 3 coming soon!) but I can't wait to scrap this picture.  It's so lovely and I think would go particularly well with the new Crate Maggie Holmes collection.  I can't wait to get my hands on this ..... gorgeous girlyness!

Next up is Jack's 13th birthday.  Teenager in the making .... look out!

Him and Her

Sarah's Cards have a fantastic sketch for January over on their blog which I couldn't wait to have a go at. Here is my attempt:

I've mostly used product from my very first Studio Calico scrapbooking kit 34th Street which I bought as a one off as I hadn't bought from SC before. I was very impressed with the speed of delivery and the fact that I didn't get charged from customs.

I wanted to keep this layout as simple as possible. I'm always tempted to add more layers or another embellishments but whenever I look at scrapers who use more of a simple style I love their creations. Anyway I'm happy with how this turned out.

No snow here in Plymouth whatsoever ..... like at all!! A little smidgen would be nice. Just a little flurry. Nada!

Christmas 2012

How was your Christmas? We had a lovely quiet Christmas doing just what we wanted. The best kind. We ate loads, drank too much and watched a humungous amount of TV!

I've now been left with many many photos to print and scrap. I did however get a fantastic gift from my husband which was an instax camera (like the old Polaroid for those from my era!). It instantly prints the photo you've taken in a really handy to scrap 2" by 3".

Here's my first layout using my first prints taken with my pressie.

I used a layout inspired from the Two Peas in a Bucket Memory Keeping Mondays videos with Lisa Truesdell.  I definitely need some practice but it's not a bad start.  I think these will be really useful for my Project Life 2013.

Project Life

After seeing the many fantastic Project Life examples from other scrapbookers, such as Marcy Penner, I've decided it's time I give it a go for 2013. I've begun my preparations by buying my album and page protectors. I've stuck with the American Crafts D Ring Modern album as these are such good quality and hold your packed pages so well. The page protectors are from American Crafts and We Are Memory Keepers and as you'll see I've gone for a mixture of styles. I'm not sure how this will work out yet but I'll decided as I go along which ones to use or not.

I've also purchased some gorgeous stamps from the new Pink Paislee Portfolio collection that have some great phrases for all occasions. I have a feeling that these will be used a lot and I intend to buy some new matt coloured stamp pads to go with these.

A lot of other bloggers have said that to keep up with the weeks you really have to stay on top of it and a lot of them stay organised by pre-preparing their pockets with cardstock and stamped images etc. I think this is a really good idea and am definitely going to go down this route. A fantastic source of information is, of course, the Project Life website itself. Go and have a butchers over there.

In the meantime here is another 8.5x11 layout.

Have a great weekend all, Sherrie x

Organisation

I've called this post organisation as I feel I'm really getting my creative life sorted. I've had a really good sort and clear out of my scrapping space which has included separating all my embellishments into little drawers and labelling them and finally putting all my papers where I am more likely to use them. I've really enjoyed using my space now that it's in this lovely state. It's very satisfying to scrap in a tidy space where you can actually find stuff!

I've recently purchased some albums to fit specific subjects into and printed lots of photos to get me on my way. One of the albums I've recently bought is an 8.5 x 11 inch American Crafts Modern D Ring album. I've been wanting to try this size for a while now and I really like it. I still love doing 12 x 12 layouts but there is something about this smaller size that's very appealing. Here's a few of the layouts that I've done for my 2010 album:

Of course the good thing about scrapping layouts in this size is that you don't use as much of your stash as you would a 12 x 12 and you could also use every day A4 ring binders and pockets for keeping them in which works out a lot cheaper.

Give it a try. It would be great to see what anyone else comes up with.

iPad Blogging

After reading (briefly in WH Smith cos it cost £10!) an iPad magazine I've figured out how you're supposed to blog using the iPad. You can download a blogging app like this one, BlogPress or Blogsy for around £3 which allows you to link your blog and photographs all in one place in order to be able to write posts directly onto your blog! This is so very much easier when using an iPad, I can't recommend it enough.
